Ballet shoes are both the same when purchased. You will need to write inside the shoe, right & left. Long elastics need to be tied in a knot & tucked inside shoe (no bows)

It is a good idea to have a special bag to keep your shoes in. Encourage your child to put their shoes straight into bag after changing to avoid shoes being mixed up with another dancers. Dance shoes should not be worn outside. It is recommended that you always have a hairbrush, small hair lacquer and elastics in your bag. Ballet students also need bun nets & French pins in a container for their bun.

Second Hand Dancewear– Check noticeboard at Dance Studio!
There is a great demand for 2nd hand items. It is worth looking after items & not wearing shoes outside.
If you wish to sell outgrown or unused dancewear place a notice at studio. Please remove the notice when item is sold. Also check the classifieds in the ‘Weekly’ or The ‘Addy’ & E-Bay.

Note: when looking for 2nd hand Jazz or Tap shoes. Bloch childrens’ sizes jump from a 13.5 to a size 4! There is nothing in between. They then start in adult sizes. So there is no size 1,2 or 3. A size 4 is the equivalent to approximately a childs’ size 1!

Hair Requirements – Hair must be tied back neatly for all classes!
No loose or frizzy hair around face. Please re-do hair after school with a brush & lacquer.
Hair needs to look just as good at the end of class as at the start!
Make sure you have a GOOD elastic which will withstand action! Pin if needed.

Classical Ballet students need a bun each week.
Bun nets, bobby pins & frenchpins must be used when doing a bun. Hair lacquer & or gel is also needed.
A black scrunchie is to be worn around the bun for exams.

Please ask and we will show you the easy way to make a secure flat bun.
If it is impossible to put your childs’ hair in a bun you may be able to wear a black lycra headband (with pins).

Preschool, Jazz/Tap & Ballet students need hair in a well pinned bun for Parents’ night each term.

Jewellery – must be kept to a minimum.

Concert Requirement
A clear costume bag is required early in the year. If dancing in the concert, please give your costume bag to Sharon. Available in a twin pack at Big W for approx $3. Must be clear, so we can see all costumes in the bag quickly, just in case a costume is missing!

I spoke to Taneka at ‘Dance Your way’ and she has to do a special order for crossovers (Bloch make them on demand-not general stock anymore). May I suggest you order your crossover well in advance of the cooler weather as there may be a 6 week wait.
